These are especially well suited for trimming ground cover which can be very difficult with traditional shears. They are also extremely effective at trimming in hard to reach places such as beneath and behind driftwood and rocks.

It can be especially useful in working with substrates that are light or very loose in consistency. The soil spade can also be used to remove algae from the walls of glass aquaria.
